4.7 Education for Actuary: Testing and certification
Testing and certification
EAA examines on transfer of knowledge and skills to real-life application. Besides the written examinations that conclude each module, the transfer of knowledge and skills learned by candidates is also examined by EAA. This is done in various ways, such as:
- Portfolio
A portfolio gathers all assignments made by the participant. Assignments are either graded by EAA, or by the local Actuarial Association, or by local peers who already work as actuaries.
- Assessment
The participant is given a work assignment in a controlled environment and is examined by trained (EAA) assessment staff.
- Examination of experience
Peers observe, evaluate and grade the participant during the execution of his actuary job.
Examinations are organized in a central examination venue to be determined.
Core Syllabus Stage 3 (Country specific & Specialist Stage) is performed under stewardship & coordination of EAA. Locally obtained results for this stage can be taken into consideration in EAA diplomas.

Local Actuarial Associations certify their local participants
The demands of entering the local Actuarial Association as a (Full) member vary from country to country. The certification is based on the local Actuary code of conduct and the responsibility of the local association. EAA supplies the candidates with the needed education and certification.
