4.3 Education for Actuary: role of Local Actuarial Associations
For EAA Actuary education to fit in with the various (educational) entry levels of the participants in the different countries, it is necessary to allow for a flexible preliminary stage where the students can follow the courses they need in preparation of the actual Actuarial stage in the curriculum.
Depending on entry education, candidates may require some stage 0 (Preliminary) modules. This is to be decided by the local Actuarial Associations. Basically local Associations are required to map the exit level of their local education to the entry level of EAA. This mapping results in a learning menu. The menu should state clearly which Preliminary stage modules are mandatory for all of the entry levels the local Associations allow for entry into EAA.
Example
A Czech EAA-student with a Master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Prague wishes to enter EAA education. The candidate first contacts the Czech Local Actuarial Association. Together they determine which Preliminary stage modules are required for entry into EAA Education and what set of EAA modules will be compulsory for Local Association certification.
