The curriculum of the EAA Actuary education is congruent with the Core Syllabus of the Groupe Consultatif. The authorized Groupe Consultatif was established in 1978 and brings together thirty-three actuarial associations from thirty European countries. In the Core Syllabus of the Groupe Consulatif four stages and their content are described in detail:
- Preliminary Stage
- Actuarial Foundation Stage
- Generalised Applications Stage
- Country Specific and Specialist Stage.
The last stage however is not within the scope of the EAA curriculum. As this stage is country specific, the local Associations play a key role in providing education in this stage/during it. Local Associations can request EAA to consult on setting up this stage.
The Core Syllabus provides an indication of the subjects that need to be covered in each of the stages. These subjects are formulated in individual modules by the EAA.
